A mirror-ball from space
The series Elaine is based on a one-off, which Daniel Becker realised during his studies at Braunschweig University of Art under the topic „Readymade“. It was a ball-shaped pendant lamp consisting of about 150 single tea-lights with built in miniature light bulbs.
The inspiration for Elaine came originally from shapes the earliest satellites had, from the first models till the early 1960ies.
Elaine consists of facetted and polished metal reflectors coated in copper, which results in a glamorous, precious appearance of Elaine. All reflectors are connected to an elegant, minimal frame made of stainless steel profiles which also serves as a conductor for the electricity.
The piece has a diameter of 80cm and consists of 180 LEDs with 0,2W each
